Results for Nero Legal Ltd:
Nero Legal Solicitors Conveyancing Law Firm in Glasgow, Scotland:
With every firm we write about there is normally something that has stood out to us. Either they offer a unique type of service, handle a unique case range, utilise a unique setup, or stand out from the others in just their style or site language. Our goal is to help people spot differences between firms.
If you've spent the day looking for a law firm to help you with any legal matter, the first thing you'll probably have noticed is just how similar (or sometimes identical) some firm's websites can look. The language and even the photos displayed can seem as though they all came from the same graphic designer. The sales language can get repetitive too. It seems that every firm claims to be "leading" in one thing or another.
This quote is from the front page of the law firm Nero Legal based in Glasgow, Scotland. It sounds great. But when you think about it, are there any firms that would claim to offer 'impractical, out of date advice and cost movers more'? It's unlikely. So what other things can you look for when trying to pick out the best legal professional for you?

Often what a firm focuses on can reveal differences between them. For example, the Nero website contains various help articles such as 'A Guide To Self Build Property', 'A Guide For First Time Buyers', 'A Guide To The Missives', etc. Some firms offer Blog sections that often contain legal news (which typically is of no use to actual clients). Articles that are definitely aimed at consumers to help them have a handle on processes and possible jargon before discussions - are therefore surely a positive sign?
The firm is very proud indeed of its charity work and, at the time of writing, nearly half the main page is dedicated to discussing the charitable organisations the firm is involved in. Most being local and relating to homelessness/financial struggles such as Scotland's winter project, H4TH (Help 4 the Homeless), and Starter Packs Glasgow.
Of course, thousands of law firms get involved in charitable work as well. While it may affect your impression of the firm as a whole - donating money to good causes doesn't improve the chances of actually selling your house or getting a favourable divorce. When people want to know whether the firm can deliver the service they're looking for, the place they tend to visit are the independent review boards:
"well priced and extremely professional"
"everything was handled with clarity and attention to detail "
"emails were always answered promptly"
Those are a few snippets from the main comment forums such as Google, Facebook and Trustpilot. Nero does display testimonials on their website, but most people tend to prefer the public comments. While they can be a bit twitchy sometimes (we've seen Google return reviews for a pizzeria instead of a law firm in the area) you can at least see both negative and positive comments by prior customers to check for any themes.
Overall the reviews for this firm were positive and mostly related to their Conveyance services. Which is quite striking because when we checked, they had a 4.5 star rating with 292 reviews left on Google. If you search through a few other conveyancing firms in the UK, you'll see alot of them don't break 3 stars. This is because house buying and selling is always plagued by delays with each side blaming the other. Negative reviews therefore abound. Property law is the only time we see people leaving negative reviews on the other side's solicitor as well as their own. Because of this, we absolutely always recommend reading the reviews rather than just flicking through star ratings when it comes to law firms.
A quick note on navigation. There don't seem to be any other law practices with the name Nero in them. So searches for 'nero law' or 'nero solicitors' brought up the correct website just fine on search engines. However, Google has changed how it displays reviews so you may need to enter the town name for any firm you're trying to research (e.g. 'nero legal glasgow'). The official site is www.nerolegal.com and currently variants such as www.nerolegal.co.uk do not redirect there. You'll see why that's important to note in a moment.
The firm's site is HTTPS secure for submitting your personal information via their online contact form. However always keep aware of which website you are on and who is emailing you. The property market is currently the biggest target for scammers amongst legal matters. Some people have handed their entire house deposit over to fraudsters. Sometimes simply on the basis of one email telling them the bank details had changed. We recommend never accepting such a huge change via email. Always ring the official number you have and speak to someone you already know at the firm to check.
