Solidaire Solicitors - Solidaire Law Ltd in Milton Keynes: Review
One positive benefit of the internet has been the rise in specialist law firms. When firms had to rely on local word of mouth or distance between a customer and any advert they could place - legal practices would tend to try and take as many different case types as possible to ensure a steady stream of business. But with people able to just look up any firm across the whole of the UK, firms that specialise in one or two areas of law can keep their focus and still do well.
One downside of the internet is there is often too much choice these days. If you've come here after already sifting through a few dozen solicitor websites, you may have noticed most look the same with the same sales language and even the same photos of people smiling and shaking hands. So how do you tell the firms apart when a website is pretty much all you have to go on?
Solidaire are a law firm based in Milton Keynes. The opening lines from their website include:
Which sounds great. But you've probably seen most law firms claiming to offer 'bespoke' services and promise a 'positive outcome'. Certainly, I can't imagine any firm stating the opposite. So what phrases can you use to separate one firm from another? What resources are available to help you?
One resource we always recommend that people bear in mind when searching for a legal professional is the website of The Law Society of England & Wales. Most solicitors within England & Wales are registered with them and you can look up information by firm name or the name of an individual solicitor themselves. They provide information such as each firm's trading names, alternate contact details, areas of law covered, languages spoken by staff, and more.
They also provide the qualification dates of any solicitors. This means you are able to verify the 'experience' level of any solicitor you might be thinking of using. Why is this important? Because not every law firm will state their levels of experience and some may even use unclear language to make people think they have more experience than they actually do. We've seen firms state phrases such as "20 years of combined experience within the firm". But that could simply mean they have 10x members of staff each with only 2x years of experience. So a resource that gives you actual dates to compare is well worth keeping in mind.
If you check out the page for Solidaire you'll see their two main solicitors qualified in 2001 and 2015 respectively. Those are both good and varied levels of experience to have within a firm.
"professional and easy to talk to"
"I was well informed and comfortable throughout the process"
"very thorough and efficient when handling my employment case"
The first port of call people usually check out for any firm is the online reviews. While many firms provide customer testimonials on their website, most people prefer to read the independent boards such as Google, Facebook, and Trustpilot. Above are some snippets from those. As you can see they are generally positive.
Google keeps changing how it displays reviews though. So if you don't get reviews displaying on the first attempted phrase, try something else. For example, as we were searching today using just the name "solidaire law" we go no results at all. But if we entered "solidaire luton" the correct firm showed up because Google still have the firm registered to their old address. It's not always easy with Google.
Some more notes on navigation. Solidaire Solicitors is the trading name of Solidaire Law Limited so you may see one or both names listed on regulatory sites such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Make sure any firm you are thinking of using has an SRA number listed on their site. The firm's site is HTTPS secure for submitting your personal details via their online contact form.
Be aware that the firm's official site is www.solidaire.co.uk and the .com does not redirect you there. Also none of the variants we tried such as solidairelaw.co.uk or solidairesolicitors.co.uk were owned by the firm. Things like this are important to note as there is a lot of fraud targeting customers of law firms at the moment. Many people have lost tens of thousands by accepting emails from scammers pretending to be from their solicitor.
General Notes: Usually if Legal Aid is possible we've mentioned it above, but you can always ask. We haven't looked in depth at their recruitment program so are unaware of any job vacancies available. For a career with Solidaire Solicitors it's best to visit the website (www.solidaire.co.uk), check opening hours, and find the correct phone/email contact details. Simply emailing a CV to reception looks lazy. Each law firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site, usually at the bottom of each page.
