Law (aka All Law Ltd) Solicitors in Preston: Review
It's very difficult to work out which law firm is best for your case based on simply flicking through each firm's website. For a start, most of them look the same with the same sales language, promises, and sometimes even the same images of people smiling and shaking hands. So how can you discern one firm from another?
As an example we're going to cover a firm called Law based in Preston. But the first thing we would recommend when searching for legal help is not to get taken in with marketing jargon. If you see a website claiming 'established in 1881' or ancient founding dates - that's obviously meant to give the impression that the firm is well-established with lots of experience. However, there are no 200-year old lawyers out there waiting to take your case. It's possible you may get a 1-year newbie solicitor from a 40-year old firm, or a 40-year veteran solicitor from a 1-year old law practice.
One of the best independent resources we are always recommending to people is The Law Society of England & Wales. It's user-side offerings far exceed anything it's counterparts currently show. For example, if you look up a firm on their database it will tell you alternate contact details, other names the firm may go by, languages spoken, and more.
Most importantly it will tell you the qualification dates of any legal professionals within the practice. For example, with Law (aka All Law Ltd) it says solicitor Jeffrey Garland qualified 1982 while Christopher Mccrudden joined the profession in 2016. This way you can see the specialist areas of law and experience years any solicitor has.
The most common check people do when researching a service provider is the prior customer reviews. The firm has some testimonials included on their website. Here are some snippets:
"explained everything clearly"
"knowledgeable, patient, friendly and approachable"
"makes the information clear and easy to understand"
One of the most important things to be aware of these days are the scams targeting clients of law firms. The worst currently target property matters due to the large sums involved. People have ended up handing their entire home deposit to scammers. So you need to pay attention to the websites you are on and the emails you receive.
As already covered, this firm's name to search for on The Law Society website and the Solicitors Regulatory Authority website is All Law Ltd. The name they use on their branding however is just "Law". The official site for this firm has a less usual ending to being www.your.law and no other websites currently redirect you there. So it might be an idea to bookmark the site if you plan on coming back. Common variants such as www.law.co.uk or www.alllaw.com are being used by other firms. Their site is HTTPS secure though so you should be able to submit your personal details in any callback form no problem.
General Notes: Usually if Legal Aid is possible we've mentioned it above, but you can always ask. We haven't looked in depth at their recruitment program so are unaware of any job vacancies available. For a career with All Law Ltd it's best to visit the website (www.your.law), check opening hours, and find the correct phone/email contact details. Simply emailing a CV to reception looks lazy. Each law firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site, usually at the bottom of each page.
