Injury Lawyers UK from Centenary Solicitors in Folkestone & Holburn (London): Review
If you've read a few of our articles on various UK firms, you'll have hopefully got the general idea of the types of firms we write about. At least half of the firms we review are actually members of our network. So of course, the review is going to be pretty positive. Not because they're paying us (no firm has influence over the content of a review article), but because we obviously saw a lot of positives in them already - otherwise they wouldn't have been invited on.
At the time of writing, we have 81 firms on our network and it's been running for nearly 20 years. That means we have a wide range of experience when it comes to spotting what's positive and negative about a firm beyond their website sales pitches. So what have we spotted about Centenary Solicitors?
Like us, you may find it odd that so many firms across the UK are 'leading law firms'. If you type those specific words into a search engine, thousands of firms pop up. So is this a false statement? Not necessarily. There are numerous industry award ceremonies. So whether some firms excel in a particular area of law or simply had the largest amount of enquiries in June of 2016 - quite a lot of firms could be 'leading' in one way or another in some part of the industry. It's a standard marketing statement many firms make. Don't hold it against them.
This is a much better statement and should really be the first in my opinion. Some firms will proudly state 'established in 1873' but then have their receptionist interview you before passing your case to a 25-year old trainee with 6 month's experience. The age of a firm is far less important than the years the staff themselves have been doing the job. 20 years is a very respectable length of time to specialise in any area of law.
Not only that, but they have extensive experience on both sides of the fence. Most people will probably ignore that section:
When they're not pursuing compensation for injured parties, they're working to help insurers fight fraudulent or frivolous claims. This kind of experience and insight is invaluable, in the same way that a firm with experience litigating for employees and defending employers will be able to advise both much better. One final important sentence:
This is a trend a lot of firms are thankfully leaning towards. Online case tracking is a positive step and any firm doing it gets a handful of brownie points from us.
If you're confused by the fact we're talking about Centenary Solicitors yet linking to a website called Injury Lawyers UK. It's not as odd as it might seem. Many law firms have separate arms for their personal injury work or simply have a few different 'trading as' names to try different approaches and services. Just like Toyota has Lexus and Disney own Star Wars. Sometimes they simply couldn't get their original name as a domain name because someone else already owns it. On this occasion, it's the first one:
Got that? If not, you'll be happy to know that it's very common and no more risky than using a firm that doesn't operate under a 'trading as'. It's not as if all three trading names will be taking a cut of your compensation.
So to clarify, the firm's main site is at www.centenarysolicitors.co.uk (www.centenarysolicitors.com shows nothing and does not redirect). We're linking to www.injury-lawyersuk.com which is owned and operated by Centenary Solicitors. Please note that the hyphen is important, with neither www.injurylawyersuk.com or www.injurylawyersuk.co.uk currently having a site. There is a holding page on www.injury-lawyersuk.co.uk but we would absolutely recommend that you bookmark the site once you're on it to make sure you come back to the correct firm. 'Injury', 'lawyers', and 'UK' are words used a lot in web addresses for such firms so it might be easy to get confused and the last thing you want is to accidentally enter your details into a lead site that ends up selling your details on.
General Notes: Usually if Legal Aid is possible we've mentioned it above, but you can always ask. We haven't looked in depth at their recruitment program so are unaware of any job vacancies available. For a career with Centenary Solicitors it's best to visit the website (www.centenarysolicitors.co.uk), check opening hours, and find the correct phone/email contact details. Simply emailing a CV to reception looks lazy. Each law firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site, usually at the bottom of each page.
