Pacific Law Estate Planning Solicitors in Manchester: Review

Pacific Law is very new addition to our database of law firms and they are a very new firm as well. However we have worked with some of the key players in the past. This new offering is a specialist Estate Planning service including Wills and Probably matters. This is an area of law where we do think a specialist firm can be of benefit, the same as with something like Motor Offences.

"Pacific Law was founded with a vision of being a 21st century firm in a 20th century industry."

If you've already visited dozens of legal professional websites today, you'll notice that a lot of them have a statement like this one. In fact there seems to be a very clear split in the industry, with one section of legal practices boasting about ancient founding dates back in the 1800s and their 'traditional' values. Versus the other side proclaiming their distate for all things stuffy and blasting a thesaurus-worth of synonyms of the word 'modern' across their sales pages.

Pacific Law

Either way should really make no difference to your choice though. In our opinion both sides are just marketing language. There is no 200 year old solicitor imparting guru-style advice at the long-established brand. It's the brand that's been around for centuries - not the people. You are just as likely to get a one year qualified solicitor from an ancient brand as you are to get a forty year experienced lawyer that joined a new legal practice starting up in their area.

"Here at Pacific Law, we have embraced the modern world. Our technology takes care of the stuff in the background so our legal team can focus on what's important - you."

Again this is something many firms claim so make sure to look for key points on any firm's site about what that means for them. This could include breaking away from the typical 9am-5pm Mon-Fri working hours and offering some late night appointments. Even one extra Saturday a month is actually more rare than you think, so give a firm credit for that if it's available.

Many firms since the pandemic have managed to upgrade their systems to offer video-call appointments. Being able to communicate through Whatsapp or other text services has been seen. But these days we would say that if the firm can't offer video-chat services they are now getting behind the times.

"We listen ... We put you first."

The most common piece of research people do over any service provider is check for reviews on the common forums such as Google Reviews, Yelp, Facebook, Yell, Trustpilot and so on. As we said, this is a new firm. So public comments from previous clients will probably not be available for some time. This is because whilst people are very happy to jump online and give praise about their new toaster - they are less likely to rush to a public forum to discuss how their recent divorce, will writing, criminal defence, or bankruptcy went.

When reviews do start popping up though (and even in your searches of any company really) you need to take the time to read through comments. Don't just rely on star ratings. We've seen one law firm get a stunning review that ended with the phrase 'best dog-friendly restaurant ever'. We've also seen dozens of negative reviews followed by comments from the firm stating 'this person has never been a client of ours'. We've been working with law firms for over twenty years now and some have confided that many negative reviews on their pages have been from people they beat in a case. However, to state 'pay no attention to this reviewer, they are just a sore loser' has never felt like something they could pull off and look good doing.

"Our technology takes care of the stuff in the background so our legal team can focus on what's important - you."

A quick note on navigation and contact. 0800 numbers should now be free from every mobile service provider in the UK. Always check. But sadly the confusion over 0345, 08000, 0808, 0871, etc. will probably continue for some time. Some are chargable, some aren't, some are really expensive. But the major mobile players we checked all direct 0800 for free now.

The official website we link to above is www.pacificlaw.co.uk, however recently they changed this www.pacificlaw.org - but either will get you to the correct website. At the moment www.pacificlaw.com is owned by a firm in the US. Any possible errors such as 'pacific solicitors' or 'pacific legal' may bring up different results in the search engines. However the risks are minimal as the majority of scams involved the legal industry focus around the property market and the huge deposits people end up accidentally paying into fraudulent bank accounts. Never discuss bank details or payments via email.

General Notes: Usually if Legal Aid is possible we've mentioned it above, but you can always ask. We haven't looked in depth at their recruitment program so are unaware of any job vacancies available. For a career with Pacific Law it's best to visit the website (www.pacificlaw.co.uk), check opening hours, and find the correct phone/email contact details. Simply emailing a CV to reception looks lazy. Each law firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site, usually at the bottom of each page.
