Rose Fendlen Law - Solicitors in Wigan (Formerly LRose Law):
Most people that end up on our site have usually already scrolled through a dozen or so law firm sites before getting here. The main reason they haven't managed to pick a legal help provider already is often an inability to tell each of them apart. Many firms use the same sales language, offer similar services, make similar promises, and even use similar images on their websites of people looking sternly at pieces of paper or shaking hands smiling.
We've worked with law firms for over 20 years and the things we look for on a law firm's website when deciding whether to include them on our network are probably very different from what members of the public or even the law firms themselves think are the important sentences. For example, a firm proudly saying they are 'modern' or 'friendly' doesn't strike us as particularly useful because no firm is ever going to claim they are 'living in the past' or 'rude'. So the information doesn't really help you spot a difference.
This statement placed right at the bottom of the page on the RF Law website is actually one of the first we look for. This is important because there are many websites on the internet designed to look like a law firm, but are actually a marketing firm or data gathering service. Only actual solicitors will be regulated by the SRA so if a firm does not have a statement such as this one on their website then you need to check further as to whether they are a genuine law firm or just a call centre who will take your details and sell them on.

Another resource to help with this is one we frequently recommend in our articles - The Law Society of England & Wales' website. If a legal practice is registered with them you can see all known trading names, contact details, alternative office addresses, staff qualifications/specialties, and so on. On that last one:
Statements like these on various law firm's websites can be confusing because it doesn't seem to equate that you can be a 'specialist' of a such a long list of anything. However whilst there may be a multitude of case titles within an area of law - it is still one area of law. In this example these are all types of litigation matter. So whilst an individual solicitor saying they are a specialist in Family Law, Wills, Injuries, Property and Criminal Law doesn't make a whole lot of sense - on this occasion it does. Because the actions needed for each of the case titles quoted can follow the same general direction and court proceedings if necessary.
To check up on statements such as this one, people usually turn to the public review boards. Many companies have created Testimonial pages on their website. But a poll we took a few years back indicated that the percentage of people that put faith in company provided testimonials was in the single digits. So what are the third party forums like Google, Trustpilot, and Yelp saying about this firm?
"professional and good advice received"
"come across very concerned and helpful"
"really helpful throughout and kept me updated at all times"
"responsive to calls"
These snippets from various reviews we saw show the general theme of the comments being left. It seems that communication is good and there is definitely some feedback about Rose Fendlen's goal of displaying geniune compassion for their clients.
A quick note on navigation as the firm changed trading name in late 2022. At the time of writing, any variation such as 'lrose solicitors' or 'rose fendlen solicitors' still brings up the correct firm in the top result. Sadly Google was showing adverts at the top for some of our searches so watch out for that. The official site we link to above is www.rf-law.co.uk and the old address of www.lrose-law.com redirects there. None of the variants we tried such as www.rflaw.co.uk or www.lroselaw.com seemed to be owned by the firm.
This isn't too much of a concern though as Litigation firms such as RF Law are not really targeted by scammers as much as other areas of law (e.g. Property matters). Payment diversion fraud where scammers convince clients they are the law firm with new bank details to pay into has been a growing problem for well over a decade. Just always make sure you know exactly which site you are on, which email addresses you are responding to, and we recommend putting full name displays in your phone contact list as well. One last point:
For general litigation matters we would never expect a law firm to charge you for the first consultation. The only difference will be on whether they charge you for running the case or provide something such as a no win, no fee agreement. We've covered the differences between the various types of litigation funding/fees/cost reclaiming in other articles but the short version is that '100% compensation' and 'no win no fee' are not the same thing. Make sure to listen carefully to the options provided and don't assume both will apply to your case.

General Notes: Legal Aid availability changes constantly, so ask up front. If you are looking for a career with Rose Fendlen Law it's best to visit the website (www.rf-law.co.uk) and locate the correct phone/email contact details. Any quoted here will be for potential clients. Alternating or adding words such as LRose Law Ltd may bring up different background/reviews on the firm. Each firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site too.
