Sarah Rostamlou-Andrews Law - Landlord / Tenant Eviction Dispute Solicitor in Southport, Lancashire: Review
There's always a debate between using a large vs small firm for some legal matters. The main points seem to be that a larger firm will have more resources and 'weight', but you might feel as just another case number to them. Alternatively a smaller firm is imagined as providing a more personal service with an interest in your specific legal issue, but they may not have the same resources or experience within the firm.
Certainly there are several areas of law where people want a specialist too. If you get a speeding ticket, most people will instantly look up a motor offence specialist. They want the veteran 'loophole finder' in their corner (despite the fact that is rarely how people get out of speeding tickets). In fact for most criminal law, divorce, or property matters people want a firm that solely works on that one area of law.
That's a snippet from the website of solicitor Sarah Natalie Rostamlou-Andrews who handles tenancy matters for landlords. Ideally what people want is a small personal firm, with the resources of a large firm, with a specialism in their particular case. In 25+ years of working in the legal industry, we've never seen such a firm. So what can you look out for to help distinguish between the vast numbers of legal practices out there? How can you find the best balance of options to match your needs?
First, note that in the UK there is a difference between a 'lawyer' and a 'solicitor'. A solicitor is a qualified position. But people can call themselves a lawyer simply by acting on your behalf in a matter of law. There are huge numbers of firms proving legal services with only paralegals on staff. So make sure you know what type of firm you are dealing with.
All solicitors in the UK should be registered with the SRA. But you can also use your local Law Society website to discover more information about them. The Law Society of England & Wales has an amazing amount of user-side information on each firm registered with them. This includes contact details, office addresses, languages spoken, areas of law covered and the number of years each solicitor at a firm has been a qualified solicitor. With this, you can always check the experience and expertise of the solicitor you're interested in.
Most companies will state their goal is to have satisfied clients. Most companies will state they have huge numbers of satisfied clients. But most people never take them at their word and will always look up reviews left on independent boards such as Google, Facebook or Trustpilot. For legal professionals such as solicitors, paralegals, or barristers chambers this is not always easy.
Although people are quick to post a review of a movie they've just seen or a restaurant they've just eaten at - they are not as quick to jump online and discuss their messy divorce, child custody, criminal conviction, debts, etc. Therefore while your local takeaway might have hundreds of reviews, your local solicitor might only have a handful.
"resolved the matter very quickly"
"was always available to help me through the process"
Those are a few snippets from the reviews we saw for Sarah Rostamlou-Andrews Law which were all positive. Google has changed it's setup recently though and you sometimes have to enter a specific location to see reviews of a firm - e.g. 'sarah andrews law southport'. If the firm you are researching has several offices, this means Google makes you look up each individual office to see reviews on each one rather than all reviews of a company as a whole.
Another note on navigation. The official website is www.sarahandrewslaw.co.uk but the full name you see on the site and with the regulatory bodies is Sarah Rostamlou-Andrews Law. As a law professional targeting business clients, there are various ways of getting in touch with Sarah such as her LinkedIn profile. If you are a landlord, making a connection or bookmarking the site might be a good idea if you're not currently in need of the services offered. The website is HTTPS secure for submitting your personal information on the contact form.
General Notes: Usually if Legal Aid is possible we've mentioned it above, but you can always ask. We haven't looked in depth at their recruitment program so are unaware of any job vacancies available. For a career with Sarah Rostamlou-Andrews Law it's best to visit the website (www.sarahandrewslaw.co.uk), check opening hours, and find the correct phone/email contact details. Simply emailing a CV to reception looks lazy. Each law firm's Law Society and/or SRA number should be on their site, usually at the bottom of each page.
