More Info on Horsley Law Solicitors in Stafford aka Horsley Holdings Ltd:
We've often said that it's better to have a 40 year experienced lawyer working for a firm that's only been going for 1 year versus a 1 year experience lawyer working for a firm claiming 'established in 1881' or other ancient founding date.
However, while that is still good advice in our opinion - we know it can be difficult to find information and background on newer firms. So where can you regularly get useful information about lawyers and legal practices? For example today we're using Horsley Law:
As they claim at the very top of their website. They also state (at the time of writing):

They are a relatively new firm in comparison to the ages of many legal practices in the UK, with Horsley being set up in 2016. They are a limited firm and registered with the SRA (Solicitor Regulation Authority). That's more important than you might think as not all websites that take your details for a legal case are actual solicitors. Some are data collectors who then sell your information on to law firms. So checking for an SRA number is a good idea before filling in a contact form.
The firm is also registered with The Law Society of England & Wales which is great. We've long advocated people use this online resource when looking into hiring a legal professional because they provide a wealth of information about each firm's contact details, alternate trading names, languages spoken, and the experience/expertise of individual solicitors within the firm. For Horsley Law their main solicitor is listed as Ashley Cocker who qualified in 2012.
"persistent and tenacious on behalf of his clients"
"very understanding and sympathetic"
"took on my case at short notice and was extremely helpful from the word go"
One of the first things people tend to do when checking up on a firm is look for prior client reviews like these. For newer firms this might be more difficult. But if you don't find many reviews of a firm, don't take that as a negative sign. While many people will quickly jump online to share their thoughts about a restaurant or spa - they are not so eager to share how their criminal case, divorce, or employment disciplinary matter has gone. The snippets above are from testimonials posted on the firm's own site but many prefer to use independent boards such as Google, Facebook or Trustpilot.
A quick note on navigation. Horsley's website is HTTPS secure which means your personal details should be safe when submitted via their contact form. Their official site is at www.horsleylaw.co.uk but be aware that the .com version does not redirect you there. Neither do any of the variants we tried such as www.horsleysolicitors.co.uk
If you are going to look around for further information about the firm before making a decision, you'll notice that they are known as Horsley Holdings Ltd on both the Law Society and SRA pages. Both list that the firm trades under Horsley Law so it's the same company. Pay special attention if the firm you're looking into handles property matters because they are often targeting by fraudsters and phishing scams.
